Auckland’s case of Dehli Belly

Melbourne Wednesday 06 May – Saturday 09 May

Melbourne was a blast.
After a 5am wakeup, the remnants of a stomach bug and a quick goodbye to the family (no tears thankfully) we arrived to a balmy Melbourne 12 degrees!! And of course we had packed thinking we had 7 months of hot summer sunshine ahead.

No matter the weather we got down to being touristy with a couple of scarfie come local friends, visiting the Victoria art gallery (which had a really cool fine art student exhibition), checking out the graffitti art and lunching in an alley way which reminded everyone of London.

The next day it was all on, the scarfie contingent contiuned to expand with a couple of coppers (Eddie and Andrea) joining from wellington. The gang trammed it to the little creatures brewery in Fitzroy to pick up some free bikes and check out the sights. A real highlight and a feel good was the vegetarian lunch at the convent turned commmunity centre where for a dontion we pigged out on a huge buffet. Some slick navigating through tight little alley ways and we were back at the brewery.
Melbourne turned it on that day but the night was still very young!!

Bottles of duty free, a bag of chips, flip cup and beer pong games kicked off the night and the scafieness started before it was off to “The G” for some AFL. To be honest, not a super exciting game when you don’t get the rules and are sitting in the nose bleeds. But the players looked a bit of alright…

We decided to call it quits at ¾ time and headed back to the flat to continue the night. And did we what… The next day we all awoke to thumping hungovers. But having a swim at the complex pool and cooking up a big feed went a long way to alleviating the pain…

Dusty goodbyes and wondering where the four days had gone by we were waiting to board a would you believe it, a painfree  Jetstar flight to take to Bangkok.
